Playback of flac files on Panasonic Elite Home Theater Receiver

Ken A. Nov 29, 2016 10:21PM EST

Ok so I have a Panasonic Elite receiver that plays flac files via a built in USB. The receiver plays multiple file formats and flac is included.
So if I download an album using the Download Manager via my Windows 7 pc, then copy them onto a thumb drive USB will I be able to play the songs without issue on the receiver? Currently the only flac files I have played on the receiver are from a Beatles hi res release of all their albums that are on a pre-loaded USB. It worked great so I am assuming these should play without issue....but wanted to throw it out there for comments.
Thanks. Ken

The simplest approach is to download our free sampler (http://www.prostudiomasters.com/album/page/621) and verify playback with your own equipment. That said, there are a couple of important considerations when attempting to play back high-resolution audio on USB-enabled devices:

1) The technical specifications of your device must allow for the resolution and format (for example, 192 kHz / 24-bit FLAC, or 96 kHz / 24-bit AIFF) of the music you’d like to play on it via USB. Some devices will only play back WAVE or FLAC files via USB, or there may be sampling rate restrictions on USB playback which do not apply to other digital interfaces (ex. optical S/PDIF) the unit is capable of supporting.

2) The file system of the USB drive must be formatted so that the device can read it. Most often, the file system required seems to be FAT32, though some receivers can specify FAT16 or otherwise. Proprietary file systems, such as NTFS or HFS+, are not often supported by these devices.

It may be advantageous to clarify these specifications before attempting playback by referring to the user manual for your device. Provided that the above criteria are satisfied, it’s unlikely that any issue will be encountered. If there is an issue which cannot be resolved with the information given above, please contact us and we will attempt to troubleshoot the situation.
